Embracing the rich history of early blues, award winning acoustic guitarist Michael’s powerful picking and slide really shine on material ranging from classic acoustic blues to original songs and instrumentals
Michael Woods is an award winning solo Fingerpicking, Ragtime, Bottleneck & Blues Guitarist with four well-received albums to date. He incorporates elements of his experience in the folk world and his love of the North East and its history into his style.
Fatea magazine described him as “one of today's most inspirational performers ploughing this rootsy furrow”.
Having performed on the main acoustic stage of most of the major UK Blues festivals as well as Lindisfarne, Callander Jazz & Blues & this year's Ouseburn festival, he is looking forward to returning to play this wonderful venue. This is a rare chance to experience an intimate performance of songs and instrumentals in this unique atmospheric venue, including an original song about the Victoria Tunnel, written especially for his first performance in this historic venue.
